Luthien Niland advises small businesses, start-ups, and entrepreneurs in industries ranging from software development to food and beverage to cannabis ventures to construction. She especially likes enjoying the fruits of her clients’ hard work by visiting their restaurants, wine shops, or retail stores, while also appreciating less tangible results by downloading their apps or learning about the stem cell libraries that they build. Luthien counsels her clients in matters related to strategic entity formation, negotiating and drafting contracts, raising investment capital (especially for software start-ups, restaurants, bars, and breweries), hiring employees, non-profit compliance, partnership agreements, and other matters for an outside general counsel.
Luthien earned her J.D. from Golden Gate University School of Law and is licensed to practice law in California and Wisconsin. After 10 years in the Bay Area, Luthien now spends her summers swimming and canoeing in the fresh water around Madison, Wisconsin and her winters enjoying the restaurants and hiking of the Bay Area.
Drew is of counsel to the firm and advises startup clients primarily in the fitness, health and wellness industries.
Drew graduated from UC Davis School of Law where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Law Review. He’s now the CEO of Move Associates, a company that helps law firms train their associates to achieve their productivity and development goals, the President of the Barristers Club at the Bar Association of San Francisco and a Visiting Lecturer at UC Davis School of Law and Golden Gate University School of Law, where he teaches a Practice Ready Seminar designed to prepare law students to make the transition from students to lawyers who are ready to practice.
If Drew weren't a lawyer, his dream job would be to lead excursions around remote islands in the Pacific. On a weekend mornings, you can find him enjoying a big plate of eggs, bacon and coffee on his rooftop patio.
Karl has worked with Alex over the years to help numerous clients get their businesses started and stay in compliance with state and local regulations.
With a resume that also includes cook and ski patroller, Karl is currently pursuing a Master of Social Work degree at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and continues to work with Archetype while pursuing a career in clinical mental health. While we appreciate his skills in the office, Karl's secret skill is excellent campfire paella cooking—put it on your list of things you need to try before you die.
